Cheryl is currently working on a digital appendix, "Seeing in 3D," to her dissertation, "Technologies of Illusion: Enchanting Modernity's Machines." When she began working on her dissertation's first chapter on the history of nineteenth-century 3D photography, she encountered a conceptual problem. Traditional methods of publishing work on stereography can only present  two-dimensional versions of the three-dimensional image. She turned to her training in the digital humanities to develop a solution and discovered that she could use a digital stereoscope to convert all of the two-dimensional steregraphs into 3D images that can be seen with red/blue glasses and GIFs of each image that would not require glasses. An example of each format of the stereograph, "Her Guardian Angel," is included to show what she will do to every sterescopic image in her digital appendix.
